Fundamental Ideas on CSR Management

The KUBOTA Group has been strictly maintaining its DNA from the time of its foundation which is to "create products that are useful for the development of the country and the society by drawing on all its knowledge and energy", and is performing its "management activities that is meant to heighten the overall value of the company by satisfying the stakeholders surrounding the company and by maintaining the balance among the company's triple bottom lines of economic, social, and environmental values". In order to do so, we consider that the following points are important.

The first is that top management is to clearly indicate their stance regarding the activities to be made for CSR management. This is necessary in order to consolidate the understanding and actions made among the business activities of the entire KUBOTA Group. For that purpose, we reviewed our traditional corporate mission statement, guidelines, charter for action, and code of conduct on April 1, 2006, and established a new concept and code of conduct system for the entire KUBOTA Group. In order to put into practice KUBOTA Group's management principle to "contribute to the development of society and the preservation of the earth's environment through our products, technologies, and services that provide the foundation for society and for affluent lifestyles", we are promoting penetration and execution of the charter for action and code of conduct among the entire KUBOTA Group as the guiding principles for corporate activities.

The second is that a system for promoting and deploying CSR management is to be functionally integrated into the management system.

This system is an important management function, and can be described as explained below:

① "Corporate governance" is ensured to objectively evaluate and check the decision-making process and contents concerning top management policies and management issues

② Strict observance of laws, regulations, and corporate ethics, which underlies all of our corporate activities, is ensured

③ "Internal control system" is established to carry out duties in compliance with the specified rules, and to check whether such duties are performed in a righteous manner according to these rules
